PROJECTS

“A tree's beauty lies in its branches, but its strength lies in its roots.” ― Matshona Dhliwayo

The overarching goal of the MacLean lab is to improve understanding of the fascinating interactions that occur between plants and microbes at the molecular level. We are particularly interested in beneficial and pathogenic symbiotic relationships that occur in roots, which are ‘out of sight, out of mind’ for most people, and yet have a profound effect on plant health.
